IISE Lean & Six Sigma Green Belt Courses

Students,

IISE is excited to offer several options for Lean & Six Sigma Green Belt certifications this semester! All courses will be offered in an online asynchronous format. No prerequisite knowledge is required, and all majors are welcome.

The Lean Green Belt course is based on mapping process flow and identifying activities that add value from the customer's perspective. It also covers topics like reducing waste and creating a clean, safe work environment. The Six Sigma Green Belt course covers topics like the DMAIC methodology (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control), statistical analysis, process capability, and root cause analysis. The Lean Six Sigma Green Belt course combines these concepts with a key focus on the DMAIC methodology.

Lean & Six Sigma are incredibly useful skills for continuous process improvement even beyond manufacturing/supply chain. The short article linked here explains the value and application of Six Sigma for analytics tasks in the healthcare industry: https://www.wipro.com/analytics/bringing-together-six-sigma-and-analytics-for-process-excellence/

Here are even more reasons to pursue these certifications:
They allow you to differentiate yourself in an incredibly competitive job market - and look good on your resume/LinkedIn
Six Sigma certificate-holders earn an average of $15,000 more than their peers
IISE courses are accredited by IACET meaning that they meet internationally-recognized high quality education standards
Students pay 1/3 the cost that professionals do for these courses

For each course, students will be required to pass an exam to receive the certification. The exams are timed, open-book, open-note, and you will have two attempts to pass. All certifications are valid for three years but can be renewed for $25 by emailing cs@iise.org.

Students have historically performed very well on these exams, regardless of whether they were administered in-person or online. From Spring 2021 - Spring 2022, the overall pass rate across all universities was 91% for the IISE Lean Green Belt Exam and 94% for the IISE Six Sigma Green Belt Exam, with even higher pass rates among GT students.

You may sign up for any number of courses. There is no requirement to take the individual Lean & Six Sigma courses together, but you are welcome to do so.
