Omar Fleifel | President

Omar is pursuing his Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology. Before coming to the United States, Omar got his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Degree from the the American University of Beirut and worked for two years as a Controls Engineer in designing building management systems. Aside from his professional background, Omar leads the logistics team behind an annual food donation project for those in need for five years now, and is currently launching an educational project for career and academic counseling targeting high school students. Omar enjoys a diverse music taste, from jazz to 80’s pop to electronic dance music, a humble interest in Medieval culture and history, watching sitcoms, and long, adventurous drives.


Meiyi (May-e) Guo | Vice President

Meiyi Guo is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Health Systems at Georgia Institute of Technology. She graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering May of 2017. Meiyi has interned with GE Appliances and BMW Manufacturing Co. LLC during her college career. Passionate about reforming the U.S healthcare system, she also has a great interest in the development of telemedicine and medical supply chain management. Outside of academics, Meiyi enjoys traveling, hiking, and kayaking.


Warren | Director of Professional Development

Warren is currently pursuing Master of Science in Industrial Engineering. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. Prior to graduate school, Warren had previous experiences in lean manufacturing, 2 years of undergraduate research in granular physics, as well as marketing and sales. As part of executive board, Warren is looking forward to promote professional development opportunities such as information sessions, technical workshops, career fairs, and conferences. Outside of school, Warren enjoys outdoor activities, sports, and playing the guitar.


Di Wu | Director of Administration

Di Wu is currently pursuing the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Industrial Engineering at Georgia Tech. Prior to Georgia Tech, she worked as a quantitative trader with friends to grow their start-up investment company as well as a credit analyst for Australia and New Zealand Bank.  She received a B.S. and a B.A. with summa cum laude honors in Actuarial Mathematics and Economics as well as a Finance and Risk Management minor from the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities in 2016. As part of executive board, Di is mainly responsible for team building and branding. Outside of academics, Di enjoys painting, calligraphy, hiking, and martial arts. 


Zhiwei Wu | Director of Social Events

Zhiwei Wu is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering at Georgia Tech. He graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering with Honors in 2017. Prior to joining the yellow jacket family, Zhiwei had experiences in data analysis, manufacturing, and undergraduate tutoring. He was also a member of MSU Chinese soccer team for two years. As part of executive board, his main tasks are to organize more social and networking events for graduate students. Zhiwei enjoys watching and playing soccer, movies, and hiking.


Steven Gao | Director of Fundraising

Steven is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Supply Chain Engineering at Georgia Tech. Prior to graduate school, Steven received his Dual Bachelors’ degrees in Electrical Engineering and Applied Mathematics from University of Utah. He spent his last 5 years in his undergraduate school conducting biomedical related research including investigating the mechanism lead to heart failure, localizing breast tumor using signal processing techniques and simulating micro magnetometers for brain imaging. Prior to his current leadership role, Steven was the treasurer for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) University of Utah branch where he was responsible for reimbursement and budget planning. Steven enjoys playing soccer and chatting with friends.


Junia Findlay | Director of Program Outreach

Junia is currently pursuing a Master’s in Industrial Engineering at Georgia Tech. He has a bachelor’s in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Junia is a GEM fellow, Gates Millennium Scholar, and a proud member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Prior to joining the yellow jacket family Junia worked full time as a Field Service Engineer for Eaton Corporation. Prior to joining the IISE Graduate Exec Board Junia held various leadership roles: Public Relations Chair, Technology Chair, Treasurer and District Meeting Chair. His interest includes: powerlifting, cooking, entrepreneurship, and dancing.
